William G. Milliman

William (Bill), age 88 and resident of Carlisle, passed away on November 9, 2018 at Boulder Community Health in Boulder, Colorado of complications due to Metastatic Colorectal Cancer. A Requiem Mass will be offered by Father Bradford Johnson at 2 P.M. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at St. Aidan’s Anglican Church, 4911 Meredith Drive. A committal service and internment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery with a celebration of his life to be announced at the Cemetery.

Bill was born November 28, 1929 in Des Moines as one of four sons of Harry Jay and Madeline Milliman. He grew up in Urbandale and was a life-long resident in the Des Moines area. Bill graduated from Des Moines Technical High School before attending Iowa State University to study electrical engineering. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and married his wife of over 60 years, Barbara, in 1957. In 1963, he started Keystone Electrical Manufacturing Company and a few subsidiaries that continue serve the utility industry today. As a serial entrepreneur Bill enjoyed building things and creating a better life for the people that worked with him and his family. Bill was active in his industry and was a life-long senior member of the IEEE. He will be remembered as a man who helped many people without fanfare and asking for anything in return.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara and his brothers, Robert, Harry, and Paul. He is lovingly remembered by his son, Mark; granddaughter, Madisen; sister-in-law’s, Kate and Twila; daughter-in-law, Stephanie; and several other relatives and friends.
