James (Jim) Franklin Jones, Sr. was born on November 19, 1933 in Pershing, Iowa to Alberta Marie and Floyd Burdette Jones. Jim served in the army from 1953 until 1955, where he spent most of his time overseas, serving in Germany. He received two medals for his service. Jim worked as a mechanic for many years, working both for service companies, and he also had his own shop. Jim loved cars, and was an avid Nascar fan, and frequented car shows. He also created and operated many types of remote-control planes and boats. He spent lots of time and had great talent in home remodeling and fix up, both for his own home and for others. Jim has left his family with an abundance of photographs and videos, as he was an enthusiastic photographer.
Jim married Sharon Lee Dundas on March 15, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa. He and Sharon lived most of their lives in Des Moines, but also lived for a few years in California. They had two children, James Franklin Jones, Jr. and Michelle Marie Stogdill (Steve Stogdill).
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon. He is survived by both of his children; his grandchildren, Ashley Marie Jones, Andrew Dewayne Jones, Madison Marie Stogdill, and Shelbi Lee Stogdill; and his brother, Eugene Jones (Sue Jones).
A Celebration of Life party will be planned for some time in August.
