Wayne “Red” Wray

Wayne “Red” Wray, 88, of Johnston, Iowa, passed away on January 25, 2019, at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Bishop Drumm Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Bishop Drumm Retirement Center.
Wayne Joe Wray was born at home in Gowrie, Iowa; he was the son of Harry and Gladys (McCullough) Wray. He attended and graduated from the Gowrie School District. Wayne served his county honorably in the National Guard.
On January 21, 1951, he was united in marriage to Lorna Berner in the Lutheran Church in Rockwell City, Iowa. They have lived in a number of places and settling in Grimes for the last 10 years so they could be closer to their family. He had worked for Anderson Dairy, owned a service station and worked in hardware store. Wayne was a Mason, belonged to Walnut Hill United Methodist Church and loved his Hawkeyes.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 68 years, Lorna, his children, Pamela Nelson of Grimes, Iowa, Michele (Craig) Wray Bradke of Coggan, Iowa, Patricia (Jeff) Wray- Marnin of Adel, Iowa and Michael (Lisa) Wray of Granger, Iowa, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
In death Wayne joins, his parents, Harry and Gladys Wray and brother, Wallace Wray.
