Theodore A. Carr, Jr.

The sun rose on the life of Theodore A. Carr Jr. born September 25, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to proud parents Theodore A. Carr Sr. and Glynn J. Robinson Carr. Early in his life his birth parents divorced and he was raised by the union of Frank Jones Jr. and his mother. On February 17, 2018 the sun set and our Ted went into eternity at Vintage Hills in Indianola , Iowa which was his home for the last 5 years.

Theodore was raised in Centerville and Des Moines, IA graduating from Tech High and later Grandview College.  He enlisted in the  Army, fought in the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged on November 1, 1955.  He then enlisted in the Marines and was Honorably Discharged as Master Sergeant September 25, 1991, still serving as an National Guard.  He served our country for 48 years. He also was employed by the United States Postal System as an Postal Swat Team Member while being an Mason and Shriner.

Theodore was a avid golfer, winning many tournaments and traveling the country to play. Along the way he met many friends. If you had the chance to talk to him about his golfing adventures you would be sitting for hours. He loved to go to Minneapolis to visit his Big Sister Eunice, go fishing while staying at his cabin, and hunting with his dad and brothers.

Theodore leaves to cherish three sisters: Bonita (Raymond) Brown of Florida, Francine Hill of Glendora, CA, Illeana (Jimmy) Brothers of Los Angeles, CA, and  two brothers: Kirby and Kelsey Jones of Des Moines, IA, five grandchildren,  a host of nieces, nephews and greats that are too many to mention.  His special friends, Judge Couch, Mary VanHorn, Jean and Danny Foster, Anne Timmerman,  all his Marine friends (too many to list), baby sister Illeana Brothers (his guardian) and special niece Andriea Cavil (for her endless help), and the staff at Vintage Hills.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Helen Carr, two sons: Theodore A. Carr III and Raymond Carr.  Parents, Glynn Juanita Jones, fathers Frank Jones Jr. and Theodore A. Carr Sr.  Sisters: Eunice Pierro, Alice Beverly Carr Lawson, Hilma Jones, and Norma Davis. Two brothers: Donald Carr and Ronald (Scoggy) Carr. Two nieces: Michele Carr and Cheryl Carr.
