Edna Rotan passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Bethesda of Beresford in Beresford South Dakota, where she had resided for the last three months of her life. She had been a resident of Des Moines Iowa for over 90 years. Graveside services will be held 2pm Wednesday, January 10 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Edna Mae Rotan, daughter of David and Mabel Geil, was born in Des Moines on January 18, 1923. She graduated from East High School in 1942. In 1952, she married Bob Rotan. They were the parents of three children, Kathy, Karen, and Kim. Edna worked at Look Magazine and then was a stay at home mom. She loved cooking for her family, going to the farmer’s market, playing cards, and doing crossword puzzles. Most of all she loved caring for her grand kids and visiting with her friends.
Her memory will be cherished by her children, Kathy and Jim Griffith of Des Moines Iowa, Karen and Harry Meek of Montezuma Iowa, and Kim and Randy Austin of Centerville South Dakota; her grandchildren Jerrod, Travis, Ed, Becky, and Michelle; 7 great grandchildren; and beloved friends.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents David and Mabel; her sister Dorothy Evans; and her husband Bob. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your favorite charity in Edna’s name.
