Dennis R. Myer

Following graduation from high school, he served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966. Dennis then worked for the Clive Police Department until 1968, when he began working for the Windsor Heights Police Department until 1973. From 1973-2000, Dennis worked at the Des Moines airport as Assistant Fire Chief.

Dennis enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a car enthusiast, and liked making home repairs especially painting. Dennis was an Iowa Hawkeye fan and had a great (and unique) sense of humor.

Dennis passed away November 21, 2019 at his home in Ankeny.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: Kenneth, Janice, and Marlene.

Dennis is lovingly remembered by his daughters with his former wife Norma Jean Cole: Lisa (Greg) Davis, Jennifer (Scott) Cooley, Amy Ryan, and Sara (Chad) Hulen; grandchildren: Josh Davis, Jake Davis, Rachel (Brad) Molle, Ryan Davis, Tanner (Shyanne) Cooley, Aidan Cooley, Masen Ryan, Averie Ryan, and Evalyn Hulen; five great-grandchildren: Ayden, Gracie, Ezra, Joshua, and Brystol; sisters, Sherryl Reeves and Christine (Lee) Goodrich; his significant other, Jan Slaymaker; Jan’s son, Greg (Lisa) Slaymaker; Jan’s grandson, Christopher (Cassie) Slaymaker; Jan’s great-grandson, Hudson; along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
