Wilma Tiernan, 74, of Adel, died, November 7, 2016, at Spurgeon Manor, Dallas Center, IA following a short battle with cancer. Visitation will be held Friday, November 11, 2016 from 9-10 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Adel, Iowa. Memorial Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held by the family, at a later date, at St. Margaret Cemetery, Rolfe, Iowa.
Wilma Tiernan, the daughter of John and Bernetta “Debolt” Tiernan, was born September 11, 1942 at Rolfe, IA. She attended and graduated school from Rolfe Consolidated High School in 1960. Wilma was united in marriage to Marvin Origer and though the couple later divorced they were blessed with 5 sons, Robert, Thomas, Edward, Paul, and Daniel. She moved to Ankeny in 1994 and later to Adel to be closer to her grandchildren. Wilma worked as a hairdresser. She will be remembered for her love of raising her sons and spending time with her grandchildren. Hobbies enjoyed included quilting, sewing, crafts, baking and reading. She loved being with family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include: her longtime friend Vernon Banks; her children: Thomas (Sophia) of Des Moines, Edward (Patty) of Adel, Paul (Stacey) of Humboldt, Daniel (Kathy) of McCallsburg, 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren; sister Lucile Cobb, Rochester, MN; brothers Loren, Pocahontas, IA; Jim, Fonda, IA; and Joe, Rolfe, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Robert, and grandson, Adam.
