William Gene Gray

William Gene Gray, 70 of Des Moines, Ia, went home to his Savior on Tuesday July 18, 2017, following a lengthy illness. He was at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Chariton, Ia June 3, 1947, to
Seymoure E and Martha L Tickle Gray. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1965. He enlisted in the U S AirForce Sept 1, 1966. He was stationed in Texas, South Carolina and Washington state and also spent2 years at Yakota Air Base in Japan with the 610 MASS.

He married Janice Elaine Stearns in Osceola, Iowa, May 31, 1970. They had 2 children.

He was a lifetime member of Carpenters Local 106 in Des Moines, primarily working for Breiholz Construction Co.

Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janice and 2 children, Chris (Hali)Gray of Chariton, Iowa, and Angie Luna of Ankeny, Iowa. 4 grandchildren, Jesper Luna, Anthony Luna, Ariana Luna and Kaden Gray. 1 sister,Dorothy Gray of Portland, Or, and his twin brother Robert (Paula) Gray of Cincinnati, and a hostof family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Seymore “Ed” and Martha Gray, his in-laws, Earnie and Helen Stearns, brother, Seymoure, sisters Zelma Miler, Gilda Carson, and Jacque Shipley.

A Celebration of Life pot luck for family and friends will be held at12:00 Noon July 22, 2017, at Indianola Heights Christian Church at 810 Park Avenue .in Des Moines, Ia. This will include sharing and fellowship.

Memorials may be sent to the family to be forwarded to Mercy Hospice.
