Walter G. Gorman

Walter Gorman passed away March 28, 2017. He was born November 11, 1925 in Crosby, MN to George Gorman and Matilda (Goble) Gorman. Walter was a veteran of WW II, serving in Europe.

On July 2, 1953 he married Naomi Jacobs in Newton, Iowa.

Walter spent most of his adult work life as a truck driver and owner. In 1973 he started work at Skiff Hospital in maintenance, retiring in 1990. In August 2009 Walter participated in an Honor Flight to Washington DC, visiting the WW II Memorial and other memorials.

Walter is survived by his wife Naomi, two sons Bill (Brenda) from Huxley IA and Rod (Mindy) from Prairie City, IA. He will be missed by four grandchildren Eric (Aaron) Gorman, Heather (Chad) Cline, Elizabeth (Dan) Bennigsdorf, Daniel (Natalie) Gorman and 4 great-grandchildren, Brenna and Hannah Cline, Olivia Bennigsdorf, Louis Gorman and a brother Bob (Shirley) from Pine River MN and a sister Esther Feltz from Clinton IA.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Neva and daughter Diana Lynn, and brothers John Gorman and Floyd Gorman. Per Walter’s wishes he will be cremated with internment at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday, April 4th from 6PM -8PM at the Colfax Historical Society Building.  Inurnment will be on Thursday, April 6th, at 11 a.m., at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter.

Memorials will be donated to Unity Point Hospice.
