Walt Bayliff, 66, of Ankeny, IA died July 3, 2016.
Walt was born on June 6, 1950 in Sidney, NE, to Frank Bayliff and Jeanne (Dwayne) Ginger. He moved to Ankeny, IA as a teenager with his mom and siblings. On May 31, 1969, he married Janet (Handeland) and they began to build their life over the next 47 years.
In 1973, Walt started Bayliff Construction, contracting through Cameron Bros Concrete and Midwest Builders before incorporating in 1982 when he ventured out on his own. He worked hard to save so that they could enjoy traveling to the Florida Keys in January each year. Eventually being able to take an early retirement, they purchased a condo in Cape Coral, FL where they would escape the Iowa winters. His biggest joy in life was his wife, kids, grandkids, and nieces and nephews.
Walt is survived by his wife, Janet; Daughters, Carey (Cathy) Bayliff of West Des Moines and Leena Hill of Des Moines; Grandsons: Shane Bayliff, Gage Hill and Colin Hill; Granddaughter, Jada-Lee Hill; Sisters: Judy (Bob) Schmidt of Omaha, NE, Chris VanderPool of Ankeny, IA, Annette (Jack) Gust of Northfield, MN and Bridget (Perry) Smith of Alleman, IA; Brother, Dan (Norma) Ginger of Pleasantville, IA: 28 nieces and nephews and MANY great (and great-great) nieces and nephews.
