Virginia A. Caligiuri, 88, passed away February 3, 2018. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10 a.m., followed by visitation, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m.

Virginia was born August 30, 1929 in Des Moines, the ninth child of Leonard and Frances (Scorpiniti) Fazio. She married Charles A. Caligiuri on October 16, 1949 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Virginia was a mother, homemaker, excellent cook and baker. She worked as an inspector for Katecho in Des Moines for about 25 years after her children were grown. Along with cooking and baking, Virginia enjoyed watching nature, feeding the animals that visited her backyard, and spending time with her family.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who will be missed by all who knew her.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Charles; children: Carol Caligiuri (Peter McDermott) of New Hampshire, Connie (Russ) Rozinek of Des Moines, and Chuck Caligiuri of Sacramento; granddaughter, Myah Rozinek; several nieces and nephews, including Patricia Fazio and Kay Ann Coenen, who helped with her care during her last months.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Tony, Nick, Charles, and Frank Fazio; and five sisters: Jane Fazio, Mary Leamis, Jessie Hillary, Rose Davis, and Carmen Kauzlarich.

Memorials may be given to St. Anthony Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
