Violet Kathryn Frahm Wolf was born July 3, 1920, to Harry and Katie (Landt) Frahm on the home farm northeast of Garwin, Iowa. She received her education at Garwin Community School. She went to California with several of her girlfriends to work on airplanes. It was there that she met the love of her life, Benjamin Franklin Wolf and they were married March 15, 1952, at Pacific Beach, San Diego, California. Violet and Ben eventually returned to Iowa with a dream. They bought an acreage southeast of Garwin, built a new home and started their own business, Green Acres Electric. They also started their own herd of Jersey dairy cattle.

Then, tragedy struck as Ben died after a brief illness on July 16, 1969. Violet had to learn to drive and took nurse’s aide classes. She started working as a CNA at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown until she retired in 1982. Violet remained on her acreage tending to her garden and pond. She loved gardening, traveling and keeping in touch with her family. Violet was a member of the Garwin United Methodist Church. Violet moved to town in 1998 and entered Westbrook Acres in June 2006.

Violet passed away at the age 97 years on Monday, November 27, 2017, at Westbrook Acres under the care of Iowa River Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben; 7 siblings and 5 siblings-in-law who she loved and missed dearly: Raymond (Caroline) Frahm, Velma (Alvin) Albers, Edna (Alfred) Last, Franklin Fraham, LaVern (Jean) Frahm, Arthur (Cora) Frahm and Leland J. Frahm; and a niece, Janet Armstrong. Those left to cherish her memory include nieces and nephews: Larry (Lou) Albers, Allen (Ruth) Albers, Tammy (Dan) Vanderloop, Kathy (Gary) Tomas, Kim (Sandra) Frahm, Cinthia (Steve) Cherveny, Greg (Whitney) Frahm, Brian (April) Frahm, Lorina (Mel) Strangways and a sister-in-law, Eileen Griminger.
