Thomas P. J. J. Davis

Thomas Pernell Johnnie Jevoid (JJ) Davis went home to be with the Lord on Saturday June 17, 2017. He was surrounded with love by his family and close friends. Thomas was born on February 1, 1974 in Kansas City, MO.  His parents are Cynthia and Alvin Davis of Des Moines, IA.

Thomas was co-owner of a home-based day care in Des Moines. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1992 and studied accounting at the American Institute of Business (AIB) in Des Moines. Thomas enjoyed football, basketball, track, pool, and shopping (clothes).  Sports were a big part of his life and he shared that passion with his children, family and friends.  Thomas was also known to his family and friends as an idea man, often creating simple solutions for everyday problems.

In this age of self on social media, Thomas made sure the focus was always on you, through an exchange that was both personal and cherished. He had the unique ability to make you feel as though you were the only person who mattered at that moment in time. Whether sharing a dance with mom, a close chat with his love, or connecting with the loved ones in his life, you were the focus of his attention.  While Thomas was a man of few words, he exemplified a life filled with love in action.  He was kind, generous, and caring.  Thomas was a father who lived each day for his children and the realization of hopes and dreams that he had for their lives. That kind of love…his kind of love, is eternal.

Thomas is survived by his parents, Cynthia and Alvin Davis, his brother, Aaron (Brandi) Davis of Windsor Heights, his sister Mary (Bryan) Weber of West Des Moines, his love, Latosha Prather, his children, Areana, Brian, Amari, Taleah, Durell, Daveon, Tomiyah, Damereon, and DeAngelo Davis, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Thomas is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Ruth Simmons, paternal grandmother, Mary Davis, Sandra Simmons (Aunt), Patricia Rowe (Aunt), and Johnnie Simmons (Uncle).

A memorial service will be held on Friday June 23, 2017 at 11:00am at Cornerstone Family Church, 3114 SW 61st St Des Monies, IA.
