Ruth Leone Caslavka was born on May 28, 1930, in Vinton, the daughter of George and Maggie (Primmer) Harwood. She attended school in Mount Auburn and Garrison. On July 3, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage to George Caslavka at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home in Buckingham before moving to the family farm northeast of Clutier. They farmed for 40 years until 1996 when they moved to Clutier. George died in 2002. Ruth continued to live in Clutier until 2010, when she moved to Traer. Ruth worked at Stoakes Meat Market in Traer for eleven years and also sorted corn for Pioneer. She was a member of the Clutier Community Church and was involved with the Junior Auxiliary, Round-a-Bout Club, and Women’s Christian Fellowship. Ruth died at the age of 86 on Friday, November 18, 2016, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Bill. Ruth is survived by a son, Steve (Monica) Caslavka of Hudson; a grandson, Shawn (Ashley) Caslavka of Hudson; two great grandchildren, Carter and Claire; and two sisters, Marian Hasty of Cedar Falls and Elsie Dougherty of Central City.
Burial will be in Oneida Cemetery, north of Clutier.
