Ronald Wilson

April 26, 1931 - September 12, 2016

Ronald S. Wilson entered into life on April 26, 1931 in Bonaparte, IA to Harold and Ruth Evelyn (Parr) Wilson. He entered into eternal life on September 12, 2016 in Johnston, IA at Bishop Drumm Care Center. A service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2016 at New Hope United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens.

Ron married Mary J. Kitterman on September 17, 1961 and together they had three boys, Brian, Steven and Timothy. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran during the Korean conflict. Ron graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College.  He worked 30 years for the Iowa Employment Security Commission until his retirement. He was a member of New Hope Methodist Church, the American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge.

He will be missed by his wife of 55 years, Mary Wilson; children, Brian (Janet), Steven (Cindy) and Timothy (Vy) Wilson; grandchildren, Nicole (Caleb) Priest, Brian (Tiffany) Andrus, Ethan Conner, Rachel Wilson, Mitchell Wilson, and John Wilson; and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles D. Wilson.

The visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, September 15th at Merle Hay Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Franklin Branch, Des Moines Public Library and online condolences may be left at www.iowafuneralplanning.com.
