June 17, 1954 - October 15, 2016

Ronald Lee Strom, 62, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. A service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 20, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with a visitation beginning one hour prior at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens.

Ron was born on June 17, 1954 in Topeka, KS to Wilbur Alan and Thelma Mae (Johnson) Strom. He married Bonnie Sue Baker on July 11, 1986 and together they had four children. He worked as owner and operator of Strom Construction Services.

Ron loved his time playing, coaching and assisting with kids’ sports; baseball and softball. He was a 21 year volunteer for the Beaverdale Little League. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Minnesota and one recently to Canada. His favorite sports team was KU basketball.

He will be missed by his wife of 30 years, Bonnie; his children, Amy (Jeff), Troy, Aaron and Ann; his grandchildren, Hannah, Abby, Emma and Cooper; his mother, Thelma; his siblings, Alan (Mary), Brian (Kimberly) and Sharon (Ron); along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur.

An evening visitation will be held 5-7p.m., Wednesday, October 19th at Merle Hay Funeral Home.
