Pauled “Polly” Thomas, the daughter of James and Mae B. Black, was born July 4, 1942 in Dell, Arkansas.  The family moved to Waterloo, IA in 1944.  Her homegoing was March 19, 2016.

Polly was employed at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Great Plains Bag Company, and worked for more than 35 years for the United States Postal Service.

Polly’s greatest joy was Love for Family. She was also an excellent ping pong and softball player, movie lover and critic, and a Patton’s Restaurant Fanatic.  She loved going to Prairie Meadows, taking the annual trip to family reunions in Blytheville, Arkansas and Hayti, Missouri, and hosting the yearly family Christmas party.

She is survived by her companion of many years, Lonnie Bruce; daughter, Lois of Des Moines; sons: Harlan (Dawn) of Urbandale, Bill (Jerry) Thomas Randolph of Fort Worth, Texas, and Paul of Des Moines; siblings: May Newson of Chicago, Illinois, Ben Black (Ora Lee) of Waterloo, Cornelius (Sebelia) of Des Moines, Nola Ford of Inglewood, California, Verna Scott of Des Moines, Joyce Madlock of Waterloo, Thea Black of Waterloo, and Lavinia Black of Waterloo; grandchildren: Lanica Bruce, Lonnie (Revell) Thomas, Lacey (Marwan) Thomas, Kaprice and Terri Thomas, Kimberlynn and Kennedy Thomas, Ciera Bolden, Daelonn, Kaprice, and Alayna Thomas; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
