Norris Frank Youngblut was born May 10, 1934 in Waterloo, Iowa: the son of Harold and Miriam (Smith) Youngblut. He graduated from Waterloo East High School. Norris served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Toul, France. He was united in marriage to Laurel “Lolly” Wilson on January 23, 1959 in Galena, Illinois; she preceded him in death on August 17, 2010. He worked at Titus Manufacturing for 22 years, then worked for John Deere, all the while he farmed. In the 1980’s, Norris owned and operated Youngblut Motors, until his retirement in 2008. Norris loved working in his yard, raking leaves and picking dandelions, one by one. He enjoyed NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon, the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. This past summer, Norris spent valuable time with family, fishing, goofy golfing, painting and watching them play softball and volleyball.
Norris passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016, Veterans Day, at NewAldaya Lifescapes at the age of 82. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Lolly; 3 brothers: Gordon, Robert and Leo and 2 sisters: Jean Bradford and Norma Hey. Norris is survived by 3 sons: Steven Youngblut of Waterloo, David (Lori) Youngblut of Cedar Falls and Timothy Youngblut of Waterloo; 3 grandchildren: Tadley and Zoey Youngblut and Zachary Youngblut and a brother Harold “Junior” (Jean) Youngblut of Waterloo.
Norris will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
