Mary Henrietta Kalberg was born on October 23, 1929 in Geneseo Township, daughter of John and Jennie (Graham) Moffitt. She was raised and attended schools in Geneseo.  Following graduation from high school, Mary attended the Gates Business College in Waterloo where she completed the course, Junior Secretarial. She worked for the YMCA in Waterloo and later Chamberlain Manufacturing until their closure when she went to work for Temp Services.  Mary was united in marriage to Chris Kalberg on April 2, 1966.  The couple enjoyed travelling together and even ventured as far as Ireland and Norway.  Chris died on March 10, 1997.  In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, tatting, crocheting, baking, gardening and canning. Mary was also a proud participant in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program in Waterloo.  Following a car accident in April 2004, Mary returned to Tama County where she resided at the Sunrise Hill Care Center of Traer.

Mary passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Sunrise Hill Care Center at the age of 87 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chris; 2 brothers, John and Eugene Moffitt; and 1 nephew, Gordon Moffitt.  Mary is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Susan Cox, Robert Moffitt, Peggy Poos, Jim Moffitt, Rosalyn Baird and John Moffitt; and many great nieces and nephews.

Mary will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2616 Orchard Drive, Cedar Falls, IA 50613.
