Mary Aiello Sitroneto

Mary Aiello Sitroneto was born in Oelwein, Iowa, on June 14, 1936 to Italian immigrants, Giuseppe and Domenica (Mazza) Aiello from Terravecchia, Italy. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Des Moines in 1954. On April 15, 1956, Mary was united in marriage to John Sitroneto. The two owned the Italian Importing Company for 37 years until John’s passing. Mary was a parishioner at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Mary loved to square dance, and travel- even visiting Italy three times. She also enjoyed baking, cooking and photography.
Mary passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Ramsey Village on February 16, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10AM, Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Catholic church in Des Moines. Visitation with the family present will take place from 3-7PM, Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Tonini Funeral Home in Des Moines, with a rosary service at 7PM. Mary will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
Left to cherish her memory include her children: Leisa, Mike and John Sitroneto; granddaughter: Sashia Sitroneto; and siblings: Loretta Aiello and Anthony Aiello. She was preceded in death by her husband: John; siblings: Margherita Falbo, Pasquale Bonanno, and Samuel Aiello; and her parents: Giuseppe and Domenica Aiello.
The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice and Ramsey Village for the care they provided to Mary. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to: Ramsey Village, Mercy Hospice, or the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation.
