Marvin Krieg

December 4, 1926 - October 30, 2016

Marvin Charles Krieg, son of Charles and Elizabeth Lurene Krieg, was born on December 4, 1926, in Mallard, Iowa. He attended school in Mallard and went on to serve in the Army from June 1945 to August 1946, stationed in Japan.

On January 27, 1945 Marvin married Thelma Jolliffe. They had five children and resided in Spencer, Iowa, where he worked for the Ford Garage. After the garage closed in 1958, he went to Des Moines, IA where he found work at the Super Value warehouse. The whole family moved to Des Moines in 1960. Marvin worked for the company until he retired. His marriage to Thelma dissolved in 1961.

On February 23, 1974 Marvin married Juanita Graham. They would have celebrated 43 years of marriage in February. They were fortunate to be together when Marvin peacefully passed away from Alzheimer’s on October 30, 2016, at Edencrest Green Meadows Memory Center at the age of 89.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Vivian Krieg and Betty Guinn. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; five children, David, Daniel (Dana), Douglas (Shaunna), Jeffrey (Theresa) and Kathryn (Harold) Tuttle, all of Phoenix, AZ; step-daughter, Reba (James) Graham of Ankeny, IA; eighteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sister, Karen (Russell) Boeckholt of Gerber, CA; brother, Roger Krieg of Ruthven, IA; and a multitude of extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 3rd at Northridge Baptist Church in Des Moines. Services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, November 4th at the church as well. The interment will be held 1 p.m., the following day, Saturday, November 5th at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsberg, IA.
