Marlin Bruce Jackson

Marlin Bruce Jackson was born March 3, 1947 to Ralph and Carmeleta Jackson and was the third youngest of their eleven children. He was raised in several Iowa towns, until the family finally settled in Des Moines where he attended Saydel High School.

Marlin married Virginia Marie Felton on November 21, 1970 and together they had two sons, Brian Keith Jackson (Irene) and Mark Alan Jackson (Laura). Marlin worked in various grocery stores as a grocery clerk and assistant manager until he retired in 2011.

Marlin proudly served in the US Navy from 1966 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. Marlin was stationed in Rhode Island, Long Beach, and Vietnam during that time. Marlin was especially honored to serve in the US Armed Forces and often spoke fondly of his time in service.

Marlin loved spending time with his family and especially his grandkids Hayden, Lucy, and Emilia. Marlin enjoyed being generous with his time to his friends and family. Marlin enjoyed reading mystery novels and westerns, and also enjoyed playing card games.

Marlin was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, his infant daughter, his mother and father, his brothers Jerry, Andrew, Donald, Duane, Max, and his sister Geraldine. He is survived by his sons, his grandchildren, his brothers Gerald, Larry, Gene, his sister Vonda, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Veteran Affairs of Central Iowa.
