Marilyn Jean Deeds was born July 25, 1935, in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Hugo William and Norma Amanda (Kelling) Lobeck. She was raised and attended schools in Waterloo. After high school, Marilyn worked for the family Dry Cleaning store.  She was united in marriage to Carl “Sonny” Deeds on February 7, 1953 at Trinity American Lutheran Church of Waterloo.  Marilyn retired from Chamberlain Manufacturing where she worked in Research and Development.  In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, square dancing, gambling, CB radioing and was a member of the Evansdale AmVets.

Marilyn passed away at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the age of 81 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sonny in 2012; an infant son, Dean Deeds; a brother, Ted Lobeck; and in-laws, Betty Kies and Donald (Dorothy) Deeds.  Marilyn is survived by her son, Tim (Kay) Deeds of LaPorte City; daughter, Dawn Wilson of Wentzville, MO; 6 grandchildren: Christopher, Danielle and Benjamin Nichols, Sarah Clapp and Nicholas and Matthew Wilson; 8 great-grandchildren: Kyele, Taylor, and Claire Clapp; Desiree and Chloee Rudolph; Collin and Chase Nichols; and Bradyn Wilson; 2 sisters, Marlyn Neuendorf of Evansdale and Mary (Ron) Kettwig of Evansdale; in-laws, Tom Kies of Waterloo, Peggy Deeds of Atkins, Richard (Sandy) Deeds of PA, Evadne Sleeper-Deeds of VA, David (Carole) Deeds of Cedar Falls; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Marilyn will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorials may be directed to Sing Me To Heaven Foundation, 901 Hwy 218 N, LaPorte City, IA 50651.
