Lydia Elizabeth Clements was born March 16, 1947 in Gronau, Germany: the daughter of David and Ottilie (Henke) Rauter. She was united in marriage to Gary Clements on July 1, 1972 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Lydia was the President of the Waterloo Sister City Association with Giessen, Germany and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, which Gary helped build. She worked as a machine operator at John Deere for 17 years. Lydia enjoyed canning and fishing. Together, every year on their anniversary, Lydia and Gary would bring their speed boat to Canada for their annual fishing trip. They spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona for 24 years, until making it their permanent home in August 2016.

Lydia passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gerhard Rauter and a sister, Herta Boyle.
