Louis P. Mosman

Louis Mosman, 94, passed away on November 13th, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 18th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church WDM, where a Rosary will be recited at 8 a.m., with visitation following at 8:30 a.m., prior to the service at the church.

Louis was born on September 20, 1923, in Carroll, Iowa, to Anton (Tony) and Barbara (Wille) Mosman. During his youth he worked at his father’s paint store. He served during WWII as an airplane mechanic. Following the war he moved to Des Moines and became a beautician and met the love of his life, Rosemary Portel, whom he married on August 10, 1950. His career path changed to aircraft engine control inspector and then salesman for several office and furniture supply companies in Des Moines.

His interests and hobbies included travel, classical music, opera, inventing, painting, and fishing, as well as flying model airplanes he designed and constructed.

Louis is survived by his daughters, Michelle Mosman of Ankeny and Nancy (Christopher) Kuhn of Des Moines; his grandson, John Kuhn of Des Moines; two nieces; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his siblings Freda (Glen) Stevens, Grace (Jerry) Darveaux, and Harriet Mosman.

The family thanks all of his caregivers at Calvin Community, past and present, for their loving care of Louis.
