Visitation

Linda Ybarra

Linda was called home to the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer and peacefully departed on April 5, 2018, at home, surrounded by her loving family. As per Linda’s wishes, she was cremated. Graveside services will be at 12:30, Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter. Her Celebration of Life service will follow the burial service and begin at 2 p.m. at Walnut Hills United Methodist Church.

Linda June (Brooks) Weiser Ybarra was born June 6, 1949 in Des Moines to Paul Henry and Dorothy Jean (Nourse) Brooks. She grew up in Perry. Linda received her undergraduate degree in home economics and education from ISU, and later earned her master’s in library science from the U of I. She taught in Highland, IL for a short time before marrying Stanley Weiser in August of 1974. They lived at Lake Panorama until Stan passed away in July of 1995. Linda worked many years at Urbandale Public Library, as the Director of the Children’s Library.

Linda married the second love of her life, Arnulfo, in September of 2005, whom she met ballroom dancing. She and Arnie enjoyed travel, including attending a niece’s wedding in Italy and visiting Paris, a lifelong dream. Linda was a lifelong quilter. She also enjoyed bicycling. Linda loved reading and encouraging children to read. She loved to laugh, had a beautiful smile, and most of all she loved life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband, Stanley Weiser.

Linda is lovingly remembered by her husband, Arnulfo Ybarra; sister, Cynthia (Joseph) Pietras; and many loving family members and friends.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Urbandale Public Library.
