Larry D. Parizek, 76, of Clutier, died on Thursday, May 26 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. He was born on February 27, 1940, the son of Leo and Anna (Vileta) Parizek. Larry graduated from Dysart High School in 1958, worked at J.W. Musel and Son in Chelsea, served in the United States Army National Guard, and then began farming. He had a special love for cattle. On June 19, 1965, Larry was united in marriage to Doris Marie Neil at the Fairbank United Methodist Church in Fairbank, Iowa. Larry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards with friends at Card Club and in Elberon, fishing at the pond, and raising pumpkins. Larry participated in several community organizations; Farmers Mutual Insurance, Tama County Cattlemen, Tama County Board of Review, Tama County Fair Board, National Cemetery Association, and was a member of the Dysart United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Karen Parizek. Larry is survived by his wife; three daughters, Carol (Tony) Kramer of Nisswa, Minnesota, Karla (Ted) Koehler of Monticello, and Kalyn (Don) Putz of Dysart; two brothers, Leroy and Wayne (Judy) Parizek both of Belle Plaine; and nine grandchildren, William, Michael, Tyson, Eileen, and Jackson Kramer, Lauren and Leah Koehler, and Krystal and Kendall Putz.
Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Vining at 2:00 PM following the funeral with Military Rites conducted by the Clutier American Legion. Please direct memorials to Cedar Valley Hospice, Dysart United Methodist Church, or Relay For Life.
