Visitation

Kathleen Schrodt

Named after the Irish song, “I’ll Take You Home Again, Kathleen”, but known to her family as Kathy and to her friends as Kat, she went to her final rest on July 11, 2017, following a long illness.  Kathy grew up in Beaverdale, attended Holy Trinity Grade School and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1972.  She moved to the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC, in the mid-1970s where she worked as bookkeeper and then accounting manager in several firms for over 20 years.  In 1998 she returned to Des Moines where she continued accounting work and then moved on to sales management.  With her father to thank for her math skills, it was thanks to her mother that Kathy became a lifelong seamstress who loved to sew.  She is survived by her only child from a previous marriage, Marie Walker of Nevada, Iowa, and four siblings, Paul and Stephen of Des Moines, Mary of McLean, Virginia, and Raymond of Columbus, Ohio, and by nieces and nephews.  Preceding her in death were her older sister Margaret and both of her parents, Raymond Schrodt and Irene Graham Schrodt.   All are welcome to attend Kathy’s graveside service at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Cumming Cemetery in Cumming, Iowa.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Kathy’s honor to WesleyLife Hospice at Wesley Acres, 3520 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50312.
