John was described by those who knew him as generous, kind, forgiving, hardworking, and willing to help others. John had friends from all walks of life, and all are welcome to honor him at his service.

John is survived by four of his children, Sheri Flinn of Milwaukee, Tanya Taylor of Urbandale, Jeff Taylor of Des Moines, and Lisa Sellers of Des Moines.
