Jill Anne Lowery was born September 20, 1967 in Waterloo, Iowa: the daughter of John and Marlene (Potter) Payne. She graduated from Central High School with the class of 1986. Jill’s senior year she was Homecoming Queen. She attended Kirkwood College, until her beautiful daughter Marlee was born. Jill met her life long partner, Jack Edgar. She then went to NIACC to earn her associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. While at NIACC, she was on the Dean’s list. Most recently, Jill has been living in Waukon. She was a waitress/bartender in food service. Jill loved people and loved meeting new people. She enjoyed the beach, fishing, and shopping. Jill adored her grandson James, he was the love of her life and her whole world. She also had a special place in her heart for her fur babies Petey and Piper.
Jill died suddenly on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon at the age of 48. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Rufus and Gertrude Payne; her maternal grandparents: Waymond and Berniece Potter and an uncle Mark Potter. Jill is survived by her life partner Jack Edgar of Waukon; her parents John and Marlene Payne of Castleberry, Alabama; 3 daughters: Marlee O’Brien of Aiken, South Carolina, Nicole Lowery of Dewitt and Maggie Edgar of Waterloo; a grandson James Harris; a brother Jeffery (Michelle) Payne of Waterloo; 2 sisters: Jodi Payne of Waterloo and Jana (Brian) Woodley of Waterloo and a host of aunts and uncles.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
