Jerry Lee Euritt, 74 of Johnston, Iowa, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospice in Johnston on August 22, 2016. A memorial will be held Saturday, September 3 at 4 pm at Merle Hay Funeral Home . The visitation will be held prior at 3 pm.
Jerry graduated from Grand Valley High School in 1960 and started his career with Hertz Rent-A-Car. While working at the airport, he met and married W. Janice Wilson in 1963. They remained good friends even after their divorce in 1981. He worked for many trucking companies with the longest at Hicklin GM Power. He retired at age 62 and was able to spend more time with his daughter and granddaughters.
He was always easygoing and friendly. He was known to have taught many family and friend’s teenagers to drive due to his easy nature and calmness. He often helped others, even to the point of doing without himself. He was loved and will be missed by many.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Crystal (David) Curiel of Urbandale, and his granddaughters Jennifer Curiel of Urbandale and Lindsey (LJ) Lipscomb of Des Moines, sisters Becky Hentges of Ames, and Linda (Joe) Hoeschele of Independence, MO and brother Jim (Darlene) Euritt of Independence, MO. Ten nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Pauline Euritt.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Animal Rescue League of Iowa or Mercy Hospice of Johnston.
