Jerry Donald Dykes was born October 9, 1940, son of Sebert and Rosa (Jennings) Dykes. He was raised and attended schools in Waterloo. Jerry met Donna Rebik at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church and the two were married May 20, 1983. He worked for John Deere in maintenance and repairs retiring in 1994. Jerry was a passionate musician and taught his dear friend, Dave Schake, to play guitar. The two started performing at nursing homes, concerts in the parks and many other venues to witness to others about the Lord and called their group “The Pilgrims”. Others joined their group and Jerry played until his health no longer permitted in the summer of 2017. He also wrote and distributed tracts to others as a means of witnessing. Jerry loved his family and would take his grandchildren fishing.
