Jean, along with Virgil, was always involved in social, civic, and veteran activities. Together they raised three children. Virgil’s work took Jean to Irwin, Iowa in 1963 and then to Pleasant Hill, Iowa in 1967. While in Pleasant Hill, Jean worked as a cashier at Bishop’s cafeteria and Drake University. They retired and lived in Ankeny, Iowa. The last 9 years Jean lived at Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville, Iowa.

Jean was a proud homemaker while raising her children. She and the family traveled the United States and went camping every summer. Jean was a terrific crafter, avid reader, and excellent cook.
