Janette Rae (Schmitt) Peverill was born in July 30, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Raymond and Gertrude “Bette” (Kruse) Schmitt. She grew up on Waterloo and graduated from Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville with the Class of 1960. Janette married her best friend, John Robert Peverill, at St. Athanasius Church in Jesup on September 24, 1960. They were happily married for 56 years. She was the queen of “cooking avoidance” and loved eating out whenever possible with her own retired chef, John.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Kaleb Peverill; four brothers: Michael ”Mike, James “Jim”, Thomas “Tom” and Steven “Steve” Schmitt; two sisters-in-law: Cheryl (Wood) Schmitt and Margaret “Peggy” (Nielson) Schmitt; one brother-in-law, Vern Kalkbrenner; one niece, Melissa Schmitt; and one great-niece, Bailey Schmitt.
