James C. Scott

September 25, 1924 - December 30, 2015

James C. Scott (Kenneth to family members) passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 30th.  James was born on September 25, 1924 in Powersville, Missouri. He was the last of five children born to Lawrence and Martha Scott. His siblings, which have preceded him in death, are Carlton, Anna, Fern and Keith. James grew up on the family farm in Powersville, and later married Jessie Nadine Mulanix on September 29th, 1943. Shortly thereafter he was inducted into the Navy during W.W. II, and served as an Electricians Mate 2nd class on a submarine.

After being honorably discharged, he returned to Missouri and bought a farm which he worked for several years. Farming had always been his way of life, but after discovering that he had the gift of persuasion he decided to seek a career in sales. He and Nadine moved to Des Moines, and he took a job at Sears Roebuck selling appliances. During this period they had 2 children, Rebecca Lynn and Clifford Ray. With the growing family he ventured out into Real Estate sales and quickly became a broker. He opened his own business “Scott Realty”, which thrived for many years.

His family continued to grow, adding three grandsons, Chadwick, Brian Jr. (deceased) and Nicholas. The Grandsons, Chadwick and Nicholas, added five great-grandchildren to the family. Jacob, Alex, Daniel and Jaylee, and Asher respectively.   James eventually retired, and enjoyed a quiet life with Nadine in their West Des Moines home. James was a very kind, loving and generous man to all, and he will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
