Howard Burg

Howard W. “Howie” Burg
February 15, 1947 – December 13, 2017

Howard “Howie” Burg, 70, of Adel, Iowa passed away December 13, 2017, with his family by his
side at Mercy Medical Center Critical Care Unit.

Howard was born in Des Moines, Iowa on February 15, 1947. He grew up as one of two
siblings. He is a 1966 graduate of Southeast Polk High School, where he met the love of his life
Kathy. He was a member of Teamsters Local 147 while working for Super Value warehouse
from 1968 to 1985. He then took a job with M. Harper LTD as the Field Superintendent,
responsible for the day-to-day operation from 1985 to 2003.

Howard cherished his time in the morning with his coffee-mates. They would talk about
everything from town gossip to solving the world’s problems. Howard was truly one of the most
loving and caring men. He really was a jack-of-all-trades, but master of none. He was, however,
the master of taking care of the people that he loved and were the closest to. He could not make
it to all sporting events or be there to go fishing or hunting but he made sure we had everything
so we could. He loved all dogs, but especially his own. Howard was a self-appointed dog

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Kathleen (Coffin) Burg; sons Andrew Burg (Bets)
of Carlisle, IA, Brandon Burg (Beth) of Ankeny, IA; daughter-in-law Amy Burg of Huber Heights,
OH; two grandchildren (Jordan and Keith Burg); sister Virginia (John) Martinet of Avila Beach,
CA; and many, many BEST friends. His parents Keith and Josephine Burg preceded him in
