Geraldine Weeks

December 10, 1937 - March 9, 2016

Geraldine Faye Weeks was born on December 10, 1937, in Reinbeck, the daughter of George “Don” and Ruth (Snow) Paton. Geraldine graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1955 and from Iowa State Teacher’s College in 1957.  On December 28, 1958, she was united in marriage to Allen “Bud” Weeks at the Reinbeck United Methodist Church.  Geraldine was a Kindergarten teacher in addition to working full-time alongside Bud on their farm in the Hudson area. She, then, stayed home to raise their children while continuing to help on the farm.  Geraldine was a member of the Reinbeck United Methodist Church where she was active in Circle and volunteered frequently.  She was also a 4H Leader.  Geraldine never met a stranger and never forgot a name.  Everyone looked forward to her yearly homemade Christmas cards.  Geraldine was an avid gardener and an exercise enthusiast.  She enjoyed board games, jigsaw puzzles, going to Neil Diamond concerts, and family get togethers.  She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and trying to attend all of their activities.  Geraldine died at the age of 78 on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Unity Point Allen Hospital in Waterloo.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister in infancy; and a sister and brother in law, Billie Jean and Bill Lorenzen.  Geraldine is survived by her husband; two sons, Marty (Deb) Weeks of Hudson and Spencer (Carla) Weeks of Vinton; two daughters, Dene (Jim) Lundberg of Floyd and Nancy (John) McMillan of Aurora; eleven grandchildren, Megan (Zeb), Allen, Natasha, Bryce, Caleb (Lauren), Grant, Travis, Natalie, Austin, Carter, and Bailey; and two great grandchildren, James and Peyton.
