Elizabeth Barge

November 18, 1930 - April 13, 2018

Elizabeth Edith Barge, was called by our Lord on April 13, 2018.
Lizzy was born on November 18, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Marion and Allen Kriz. While still an infant, the family moved to Traer, Iowa and put down roots. She graduated from Traer High School in 1949. On February 14th, 1950 she married Raymond “Pete” Barge.
Lizzy and Pete made their home in Traer, where they raised their family and built their business, Traer Implement. She worked for Funks Seed Corn and managed the Traer Memorial Building for over 30 years. She enjoyed fishing, picnics, camping, neighborhood coffees and her flower gardens. But her greatest joy was her family. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls and loved her Sunday morning coffee club.
In 2011 Pete’s health started to fail, and they moved to Aster Assisted Living in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. Pete passed away June 27, 2011, Lizzy remained at Aster, making many friends and touching many lives. Lizzy passed away on April 13 while in the loving care of Agrace Hospice of Madison with her family by her side.
She is survived by a son, Steve (Christine) Barge of Spokane, WA, a daughter, Susan (David) McIntyre, of Madison, WI, five grandchildren Brian (Jennifer) Barge, Vancouver, WA, Stephanie (Ryan) Horsfall, Bellingham, WA, Eric (Karlie) Barge, Sigonella, Sicily, Amber (Mike) Balbier, Van Alstyne, TX, and Christopher (Kelsey) McIntyre, Boston, MA. Also six great grandchildren, Charlie Barge, Isaiah Barge, Annabelle Horsfall, Jack Horsfall, Emily Balbier and Ashley Balbier. She is also survived by a brother Max Kriz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister Peggy Bradley, brother in law Elmer Bradley, and sister in law Joan Kriz.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 28th at Overton Funeral Home, Traer, Iowa with burial in Buckingham Cemetery, Traer.

The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice, Aster Assisted Living and Dr. Edward Kramper for their loving care and friendship, Lizzy loved you all.
