Dolores Van Rees

November 8, 1937 - December 19, 2016

Dolores J. Van Rees, 79, was born to Abe and Edna Vandenberg in Pella, Iowa. She graduated from Pella Community Schools. She and Max were married on April 22, 1957. Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister and dedicated herself to raising her girls.  She loved developing land and remodeling housing. One of the greatest pleasures of her life was the birth of her grandson.  Dee, or Gram as she was so fondly known, shared herself in so many ways with everyone she crossed paths with.  She will be greatly missed and remembered for her kindness and the joy she brought to so many during her beautiful journey on earth.

Dee  was preceded in death by her parents Abe and Edna Vandenberg; her husband Max J. Van Rees and parents-in-law, Jack and Dorothy Van Rees. She is survived by her daughters, Jan (Falcon) Jackson, Randi Van Rees, Viki (Steve) Sauerman; grandson, Cory J. Sauerman; brother, Ron (Joyce) Vandenberg; nieces, Rita Moneysmith, Judy Clark, Carol Floden, Christina Groenenboom, Lori Vandenberg; and nephews, Mark Vandenberg and Mark Van Rees.

Family will greet friends at 9:30 AM, Friday December 23, 2016 with funeral services following at 10:30 AM at Meredith Drive Reformed Church, 5128 Meredith Drive, Des Moines.  A joint committal service for Dolores and Max will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Columbus & West 6th Street, Pella, Iowa at 12:30 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to Suncrest Hospice of Iowa or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Iowa Chapter, in loving memory of Dolores.
