David L. (Dave) Williams was born April 30, 1925, in Sparta, Wisconsin, the son of Jesse and Florentina (Berg) Williams. Upon his graduation from high school, Dave enlisted in the Navy serving his country from 1942 – 1946. Dave married Audrey Vieth on September 14, 1946. He graduated from Madison Business College, Madison, Wisconsin, and the couple moved to Denver where he worked for Thermogas Company of Waterloo retiring as District Manager after 33 years. After retirement, Dave and Audrey spent their winters in Mission, TX, and summers in Harpers Ferry, IA, eventually living year round in Mission. Most recently, they resided at Western Home Communities – Windcove. Dave was a member of the American Legion and had served as past president. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver and, most recently, at Nazareth Lutheran of Cedar Falls. Dave loved all sports. He was an avid golfer with eight “holes in one” and he loved his Cubbies and celebrated their World Series Championship in 2016. He was especially proud of being a World War II veteran. He was devoted to the love of his life, Audrey!

David passed away on Thursday, January 18, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Memorial Hospital at the age of 92 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Ann Dunnaway and Edith Benedict. Dave is survived by his wife of 71 years, Audrey; three daughters: Patricia (Sam) Kehe of Camanche, Dianne (David) Happel of Waterloo, and Peggy (Wendell) Schmitz of Waterloo; six grandchildren: Tom Kehe, Whitney (Matt) Weaver, Alison (Alan) Fahrenkrog, Lesley (Ryan Morris, Holly Schmitz, and Michael (Bailey) Schmitz; five great-grandchildren: Luke, Ian and Maya Morris and Ethan and Evi Weaver.
