Darlene Mae, the daughter of Raymond and Eulalia (Wilcox) Buck, was born September 29, 1929 in Powersville, Missouri.  She grew up there and graduated from Powersville High School.  Darlene then graduated from business college in Chillicothe, Missouri.  On November 29, 1952, she was united in marriage with Phillip McKee in the Christian Church in Unionville, Missouri.  She was a longtime homemaker, and then worked for Urbandale Community Schools.

 

Darlene liked to crochet in her younger years. She was a fan of the Iowa State Women’s Basketball Team and listened to them play every time they were on the radio.  She was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and listened to every game.

 

Darlene is survived by her husband, Phil; son, Ron (Rita) McKee; grandchildren: Brennan McKee and Stacie (Brett) Lester; great grandson, Austin Lester; and great-great grandson Brayden. She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Yolanda Knowles.

 

Darlene’s graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 11 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter.
