Dante Romeo Heck

Dante Romeo Heck, 31, gained Angel’s wings and ascended to our Lord on May 26, 2017. Dante was born in Des Moines on November 20, 1985.

Dante was the son of Donald Heck, Juliet Romeo-Bascom and John Bascom.
Dante will be remembered for his beaming smile, heart of gold, love of animals, and his love of the ocean. Dante’s passing has left a huge void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

Dante’s many achievements include graduating with honors and earning a bachelor’s degree from AIB, his service in the U.S. Navy, a successful career as an entrepreneur, along with a passion for writing. Dante enjoyed traveling, skateboarding, playing guitar, hockey, and he had a deep love for the Boston Red Sox. Dante’s quick wit and infectious smile always kept people laughing.

Dante is survived by his parents, Don Heck and Juliet and John Bascom; siblings Frank Farrell, Nina (Andy) Cardillo; his beloved Goddaughter Franki Farrell, his aunt Peggy (Dennis) Crook; grandmother Bernice Heck, as well as many relatives and friends.

Dante was preceded in death by his grandparents Donald E. Heck, Yolanda and Sam Dean, and Joseph Thomas Romeo; along with his uncle Lance Heck.

Although his beautiful soul left us far too soon, Dante will remain in our hearts and minds forever.
A wake will be held at Tonini Chapel, 2135 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, and a funeral will be held the following day, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. A reception will be held at Rollins Mansion from 12 to 3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League in Dante’s honor.
