Cheryl Prashad, 64, died Monday, June 4, 2018 at Kavanagh Hospice in Des Moines, IA following a battle with NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease). Cheryl was born January 20, 1954 in Georgetown, Guyana, South America. On December 11, 1976 she was married to Chaitram (Chet) Prashad at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Georgetown. Twin daughters, Candace and Caron, were born to this union September 1977. In 1979 the family emigrated to St. Peter, Minnesota where her husband engaged in further education at Gustavus Adolphus College. In 1980 the family settled in St. Paul when Chet enrolled at Luther Seminary. Upon seminary graduation, Chet received a call to pastor at First Lutheran Church, Barron, WI, 1984-1996. Another calling of ministry began at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd 1997-present. Cheryl’s life work was as a supportive and encouraging presence in her husband’s ministerial career. She took great delight in her daughters’ achievements of doctoral degrees in pharmacy from Drake University. Another highlight for Cheryl was the marriage of her daughter, Caron, to Dr. Chad Trierweiler 2001. The birth of twin grandchildren, Quinn and Landon, brought her immense joy.

Cheryl’s education included receiving her diploma from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School followed by additional college credits at University of Northwestern St. Paul and the University of Wisconsin, Barron County Campus. Cheryl was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed entertaining guests in her home with beautiful food and décor. She also enjoyed cross-stitching, traveling, and painting.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of 41 years, Chet; daughters Dr. Candace Prashad of Des Moines, IA and Dr. Caron Trierweiler (Chad) of Edina, MN; grandchildren Quinn and Landon; parents Arnold and Eslyn Ramsammy of London, England; and 6 siblings including Elizabeth, Edward and Pamela all of London England, Peter and Paul of Mankato, MN and David of Orlando, FL.
