Charles “Chuck” Petersen

October 8, 1955 - July 11, 2016

Charles “Chuck” Edward Petersen was born on October 8, 1955, in Waterloo, the son of Gene and Leah (Barkdoll) Petersen.  Chuck attended school in Garrison and Dysart, graduating from Dysart-Geneseo High School.  He was president and owner of Petersen Trucking Inc for over 30 years.  On January 19, 2013, he was united in marriage to his wife, Debbie, in Miami, Florida.  Chuck loved people.  He was generous, kind hearted, always optimistic and lived every day to the fullest.  Chuck enjoyed racing, going to the river, riding around with his uncle, Phillip, and spending time with his family and friends.  He adored his grandson and cherished his wife, Debbie, who was his partner in life.  Chuck died too soon at the age of 60 on Monday, July 11, 2016.  He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Ronda Hopkins; and a nephew, Rick Allen Hopkins.  Chuck is survived by his wife, Debbie of Dysart; his mother, Leah Petersen of Vinton;  a daughter, Tabby (Mark) Kaiser of Dysart; a grandson, Breck Charles Kaiser; a brother, Doug (Ronda) Petersen of Garrison; special relatives, Phil Barkdoll, Steve Barkdoll, and Gene Douglas Petersen; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his dog, Sonoma.

Family and friends are invited to a pot luck gathering at Barkdoll/Hickey Park in Vinton on Monday, July 18, 2016, starting at 4:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Security State Bank in Dysart for a scholarship fund for Chuck’s beloved grandson, Breck Charles Kaiser. Make checks payable to Breck Kaiser.
