Burton Angus

November 27, 1916 - January 9, 2016

Burton Francis Angus was born on November 27, 1916, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Herbert and Nettie (Linn) Angus. He grew up in Sioux City, Tripoli and Fredericka. Burton served his country in the Calvary of the Unites States Army Calvary during World War II. In 1942, he was united in marriage to Norma Huebner in Westgate, Iowa. The couple made their home in Waterloo where Burton worked on the railroad with Illinois Central and also worked for Rath’s Packing. Norma died in 1991. Burton was married to Olivia Franklin in 2002 in Waterloo. She died in 2014. Burton enjoyed dancing, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family. Burton died at the age of 99 on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Mallard Point in Cedar Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; three daughters, Jean Paterni, Barbara Mildenstein, and Judy Heene; a grandson, Philip Heene; a brother, Arthur Angus; and two sisters, Leona and Dorothy Putnam Miller. Burton is survived by a daughter, Karen (Dennis) Roberts of Cedar Falls; a brother, Earl Angus of Silver Springs, Maryland; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
