Bryce K. Bohnsack was born January 23, 1937, in Traer, the son of Roland and Iris (Wilson) Bohnsack. He was raised and attended schools in Traer graduating with the Traer High School Class of 1954. Bryce worked with his brothers for a while, then travelled across country on his motorcycle. He entered the Army National Guard in 1959. Bryce also raced motorcycles and was the 1960 Iowa State Flat Track Champion. He married Sandra Sue Starkweather in the Fall of 1961 and the couple later divorced. Bryce worked for John Deere for 30 years retiring in 1996. In his free time he loved stock car races, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, crossword puzzles and woodworking. Bryce was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, boating and golf.

Bryce passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids at the age of 81 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Jean Clark; his brothers: Bob, Jim, and Bill Bohnsack; an infant daughter, Christine Bohnsack; and a grandson, Benjamin Bohnsack. Bryce is survived by his four sons: Jeff (Shawna) Bohnsack of Anita, Roland (Connie) Bohnsack of Clutier, Kurt (Brenda) Bohnsack of Ely, and David (Karyl) Bohnsack of Iowa City; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
