Beverly Mary Pickar was born January 20, 1925, in Devon, Iowa, daughter of Julius Louis and Mary Louise (Moorhead) Boos. She attended country school through 8th grade, then worked for families providing domestic services. Beverly was married to Joseph John Pickar on February 14, 1942, and the couple moved to Dysart for his job. Beverly was a very busy and productive housewife for many years, then held numerous positions outside of the home including her work at the Dysart Community Center for many years until her retirement. Beverly was a self-taught painter of scenery, an accomplished seamstress who did tailoring work and a long-term member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dysart. She loved any outdoor activities including gardening, yard work and fishing. Beverly also loved reading and providing table decorations for senior citizen’s luncheons in Dysart.
Beverly passed away gently on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Sunnycrest Care Center in Dysart at the age of 91 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; son, Glenn; and a sister, Maxine Olson. Beverly is survived by her daughter, Kati (Joseph) Wilson of Center Point; three grandchildren, Pam (Darren) Garrett of Davenport, Peggy (Jeff) Morrissey of Milan, IL, and Mary Wilson of Center Point; and five great-grandchildren: Megan, Collin, Jessica, Shannon, and Paige.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to her family.
