Betty Barth

Betty Lou Boeger Barth, 87, died April 13, 2018 at Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines, IA.

She was born in 1931 in Davis City IA, daughter of daughter of Josephine and Carl Boeger. Due to life’s unforeseen circumstances, she would be blessed with the presence of Ruby Blake, the man she would grow to call Dad, The family moved to West Des Moines in 1939 with her sisters Judith and Lucile, and brothers Bob and Jake.

In 1952, she married Billy Dale Barth of Blythedale MO, and had 4 children Judith, Billy, Victoria, and Gregory. Her hobbies included traveling, camping, grilling out, reading, watching old westerns and spoiling her schnauzer Annie. Above all, she loved spending time with her family celebrating holidays and family reunions were her favorite.

She believed in working hard to take care of her family. In her youth, she worked as a carhop at Park Lane, then Dolly Madison, Look magazine and eventually The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, from which she retired in 1994.

She is survived by her children, Judith, Victoria (Randy Spaur,) Billy II and wife Diana, Gregory and wife Julie; her grandchildren, Alan, Louis, Chad, Austin, Amie, Chase, Joshua, Maria, Stephan, Myles; 12 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Bob; as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by parents Josephine and Ruby Blake; sister, Lucile and her husband Roger; sister Judith; brother Jake; and sister-in-law Pat.

A Memorial Service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines on Friday, May 18, 2018 3 p.m.

Following services, a Celebration of Life will be held at Water Works Park. Family and friends welcome, BYOB. For more information, contact Vicky at
