Barbara Ann Davis

Barbara Ann Davis, 86, passed away at Kavanagh House, December 19, 2017. No services will take place; she had wished to be cremated, by Brooks Funeral Home. Her burial will be at Rising Sun Cemetery. Barbara elected to forgo any visitation or viewing.

Barbara was born June 5, 1931; she grew up and attended school in Des Moines. On September 18, 1947, she married Thomas E. Davis, Jr. In 1953, the family moved to California, where she was employed by US Driver’s Corporation and also worked at NASA space for the Apollo missions. In 1965, the family returned to Des Moines, Iowa where Barbara began working for the State of Iowa at the Capital Complex, finally ending her years of employment with the State as manager of the Micrographics, Job service of Iowa. Barbara was a member the Immaculate Conception Church in Colfax, and the Order of Eastern Star of Pleasant Hill. Barbara is and will be remembered as loving wife to Thomas, mother, mentor, and friend to many.

Barbara was preceded in death by Thomas, her husband of 60 years, son Timothy James, her parents, a sister, and brothers. Barbara is survived by daughter, Mary Alice (Bernard) Fogel; son, Thomas E. III (Carla) Davis; son, Daniel Joseph Davis; and daughter, Margaret Ann “Peggy” (Mark) Boyd; two sisters, Maureen Miller of Pleasant Hill and Mary Ellen Selby of Pleasantville; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and dear friends.
