Arlene Mae Field passed away peacefully on November 10th, 2016. Arlene was born on June 7th, 1932 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Elizabeth and Theodore Albers Jr. She married Roger Field on August 23, 1950 in Buffalo Center, IA. They lived in Forest City where they started their family before moving to Ankeny in 1961. A travel enthusiast, she owned a travel agency, Iowa Travel, with her husband before their retirement.
Arlene was a dedicated member of the Marsteinen Lodge of The Sons of Norway holding numerous terms as an officer of the local lodge as well as the Treasurer of District 1. She was an active Member of St John’s Lutheran Church of Des Moines where she sang in the choir for 25 years and enjoyed participating in bible study. She also was a member and officer to the Iowa Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary. She spent much of her time volunteering across many local organizations including her local chapter of AARP.
When not involved in her many causes she loved to do hardanger Norwegian embroidery for which she was quite accomplished and even taught others the craft. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and collecting recipes, her most famous of which is her chocolate chip cookies.
